“A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, ‘If you are willing, you can make me clean’’’ (Mk 1:40). The person made an amazing statement that puts power & will in the balance. Before Jesus responded in words, he reacted in feeling: “Filled with compassion, Jesus touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be clean!’ The man initially touched the Lord with his condition and conviction. And Jesus did the unacceptable, touching a man with leprosy. The Lawgiver showed His precedence over the code of defilement. He could have spoken easily. But He cared beyond the healing He offered. Patting the ‘unpatable’ reflects the uniqueness of His passion. You might not have received His healing yet; His touch however has carried you through.
