Midweek Bible study in a small group, the leader had asked for prayer requests. An old woman told about her four-year-old legal battle to secure a purchased property & asked to plead with God fearing regression. In an interesting correlation the leader was quoting the story of the widow & the unjust judge to highlight the importance of persistence in prayer (Lk 18:1-7).
In the parable Jesus told of “the judge who neither feared God nor cared about men” acting to the widow’s wish because of the “bothering”. It is sad to see today the crooked multiplied while the persistent limited in number. Jesus asked, “Will he [God] keep putting them off?” We mayn’t extinguish injustice from people or institutions, but with persistent prayer we move the pure & powerful God to personal or societal matters.
